You Paid 500 Pastors to Support APC-Bishop Replies Amaechi
The Chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Cross Rivers Bishop (Dr) Emma Isong, has alleged that Governor Rotimi Amaechi paid 500 members of the clergy to support and endorse the All Progressive Congress Party last year. The Bishop while making the allegations in responce to Amaechi's recent assertion that some Pastors were paid 6billion Naira to support the People's Democratic Party, said he had no Moral grounds to concot such falsehood considering he was actually the one who had paid Pastors. The Bishop also challenging Amaechi like some of the frontline Pastors have in the aftermath of his allegations concluded “Pastor (Enoch) Adeboye himself on the 4th of February at TREM (The Redeemed Evangelical Mission ) Headquarters in Lagos, in front of six thousand pastors challenged that whoever made the allegations should mention names. Up till today we have not heard the names of whoever collected the N6 billion to share to the pastors“Number two point is that: If, N6 billion was shared to pastors to mobilise Christians for the elections, you should know that people like Adeboye, whom I call one of the most important Christians in Nigeria, who has the largest church that has the voting power ,has not collected N10.“Again, I in Cross River State, being the number one Pentecostal and as chairman of PFN for over eight years now, I have not also collected 1 kobo He stated.
Governor Rotimi Amaechi alleged that some Pastors amongst those who have endorsed the candidature of the incumbent President Jonathan, had been mobilised and compromised with 6 Billion Naira by the Presidency. In ensuing reactions, Men of God like Pastor Adeboye and Bishop Abiara amongst other frontline men of God had responded challenging him to name the pastors, but so far he has neither responded nor named any names.
