Look at this low cost house built with plastics, sand and mud in Nigeria
One of the most palpable issues Nigerians are facing is a severe housing shortage, with tens of millions of Nigerians with no hope of ever owning a rented apartment, never mind build a house of their own in their lifetime. However this brilliant project i came across could be the answer to solving this serious issue.A project using plastic bottles and sand to build perfectly structured and even aesthetically pleasing low cost housing at a fraction of the cost of conventional concrete house.
The plastic bottles picked in dump sites all over the place is filled with sand and covered up
Then arranged both vertically and horizontally using a combination of concrete and mud to strenghten it,the common plastic string is used to hold it in place while the construction is going on.
And apart from the cost benefit ,it also has a short time frame in which it is completed,it is malleable to modern cutting edge designs favoured by Nigerians in conventional housing as well which is like getting a ferrari for the price of a Toyota.Look at the curve and the outer aesthetics of the constuction even before it is finished.
And here are the finished results looking as good, if not better than so many concrete buildings.
and the final and finished structure even without the expensive paint work and multi million naira roofing
