Two of Late Alex Ibru’s Daughters Sue Widow,asks Registrar to Take over Management
The family infighting over the companies and properties left behind by the late Alex Ibru is getting more intense and messy by the day,going by the recent court case filed by 2 of his daughters against their step mum.Grace and Mabel Ibru two of the late Guardian Publisher's Daughters have dragged their step mother Mrs Maiden Ibru to court over seven of their departed father's investment companies.The daughters are praying the court to take over the following investment companies Alurum Investment LTD| Oma Investment Ltd |Dadifol and RFC Ltd.They have accused the widow of late Alex Ibru and her brother Alexander Thomaupulos of trying to usurp the rights and control of th companies for their own pecuniary and absolute gain.
In the suit marked FHC/ABJ/PET/17/14 dated the 9th of December 2014 filed by their counsel Ahmed Raji (SAN),they deposed that their father died on the 21st of November 2011 leaving behind wills dated 22nd May 1989 and another dated 6th of July 1992 stating that Omano trust,under Part C of the companies and Allied matters act of which they are trustees is the third will of their departed father dated the 8th of September 2011.They alledge that the petitioner Mrs Maiden Ibru and her brother had usurped powers they did not have under the terms of the will by unlawfully representing themselves as agents and representatives of the late Alex Ibru claiming that the restraining order did not extend to the late Alex Ibru's Corporate assets.
The two daughters Ms Grace and Mabel Ibru asserted that Mrs Maiden Ibru's ultimate goal was to eventually ride on the late Alex Ibru's estate,in order to emerge the Chairperson of Ikeja Hotels Plc hence consolidating her position as the maximum and absolute controller of late Alex Ibru's estate to the exclusion of all the other beneficiaries of Alex Ibru's estate,especially the first 3 children begotted of his first wife.
In view of their deposition they prayed the court to restrain Mrs Maiden Ibru and her brother including any agent representing from selling,buying,mortgaging or disposing off in any way any of the movable or immovable assets pending the final determination of the case.They also prayed the court to restrain the petitioners from altering any of the company documents or and records held with the CAC.
